Message from James Jewell, MD, Preliminary Medicine Year Program Director

"The preliminary program is designated to meet many potential needs for those seeking one year of training. Classically, the schedule is designed to provide slightly more Internal Medicine and critical care for those interested in areas such as Neurology, Anesthesiology or a desire to continue in Internal Medicine. It is also flexible enough to cover the elective of your choice for those going into Radiology, Ophthalmology and Rehabilitation Medicine. Being certified by the ABIM, the year is easily transferable for credit in Med-Peds, Med-EM or other IM programs. Clinic experience is included and the resident is treated no differently than any of the other PGY-1's."
